ARTIST STATEMENT

The true intention of my subject matter is seldom revealed until an image or nuance is cultivated within the subconscious mind through an improvisational method. PAINTING can be an outlet for instant gratification or an sincere battle to bring an endless realm of illusions into static focus.

My main medium is acrylic and have used it extensively throughout but I also work in a wide variety of mediums and materials from oils resins spray paint airbrush watercolor to inks raw pigments and powdered graphite and more. and while normally keeping these elements and art forms separate occasionally merging one or more together thus creating hybrids. The techniques and closely guarded vehicle formulas are created through the experimental process and become more highly developed and integral to the work.

SCULPTURE

I am a sculptor at my core in fact most of my paintings contain or are contained within sculptural environments. I work with metals stone wood clay resins and found objects. This is where the line of sight gets blurry.

The approach to my sculpture is a bit complex because it often searches out serendipitous events within a natural or manipulated environment.

They in turn become the material elements of the piece. They are often then seen and used as imitations of a likeness or a form.
